  • VG Construction, and many more...

Among Geokos A&A's key projects was the supervision of earthworks and field geomechanical testing for the U.S. Embassy building in Pristina, with the esteemed client BL Harbert. This project spanned from 2015 to 2019.

Low Storey Buildings

Geokos A&A has conducted numerous investigations for low-rise structures, including the Qershia neighborhood, Marigona Hill neighborhood, Vargu I Blerte neighborhood, etc.

As part of low-rise structures, Geokos A&A has conducted geotechnical investigations for preschools, lower-level schools, and high schools throughout the territory of Kosovo. These projects were carried out for clients such as Turkish Engineering Consulting & Contracting Co, the World Bank, the Municipality of Pristina, etc.

We have also conducted geotechnical investigations for numerous industrial facilities, factories, warehouses, etc.

Airports

Among the major airport projects that Geokos A&A has investigated are Pristina International Airport and Vlora International Airport.

Geokos A&A has conducted a comprehensive geotechnical investigation for the new terminal of Adem Jashari Airport in Pristina. The investigation included borehole drilling, laboratory testing for granulometry, Atterberg limits, direct shear, triaxial tests, and consolidation tests. Based on the geotechnical model created, the final design for the airport has been completed.

During the years 2018-2021, upon the request of the client Limak Holding, we conducted geotechnical field tests for the expansion project of the existing runway at the Airport. The tests we performed included field CBR tests, dynamic cone penetration tests, Proctor tests, and moisture content tests. This project was successfully completed in 2021.

Upon the request of Altea&Geostudio, Geokos A&A conducted CPTu tests for Vlora International Airport in 2018. Approximately 70 CPTu tests were performed at a depth of 15m, providing real-time data on the geotechnical conditions of the existing lithological layers.

Stadiums

Geokos A&A conducted the geotechnical investigation for the National Stadium of Kosovo upon the request of the Ministry of Sports, Youth, and Culture. The fieldwork was carried out during 2019 and included borehole drilling at depths of 20m-40m, Standard Penetration Test, as well as Cone Penetration Test, providing real-time data on the existing soil conditions.

Geokos A&A conducted laboratory testing for granulometry of the soil type used in the Fadil Vokrri football field, as per the request of the project executor Al Trade. After several efforts, the soil blending was achieved, and the granulometric composition meets FIFA standards.

Road Infrastructure

Some of the main road infrastructure projects for which we have performed geotechnical investigations include the Ibrahim Rugova Highway (which connects Kosovo to Albania), M5 Highway Prishtine - Mitrovice, Road A (Ring Road in Prishtina), Istog-Prizren Road Expansion, etc.

For these projects, geotechnical boreholes were conducted up to a depth of 20m, including Standard Penetration Tests (SPT), permeability tests, and soil identification tests.

Railways

Upon the request of the client Obermeyer Hellas Ltd, Geokos A&A conducted a thorough geotechnical investigation for the Fushe Kosove – Han I Elezit Railway in 2015. The drillings and in situ testing were carried out in challenging mountainous terrain, and this project was among the most demanding in terms of execution.

The geotechnical investigation for the Fushe Kosove – Mitrovica Railway was conducted in 2018 upon the request of Obermeyer Hellas Ltd. For this railway line, geotechnical drilling, Standard Penetration Tests (SPT), Cone Penetration Tests with pore pressure measurement (CPTu), and laboratory testing were performed.

In 2019, upon the request of Hill International LLC, Geokos A&A conducted a geotechnical investigation for the Fushe Kosove – Podujeve Railway project. In addition to drillings, SPT, and CPTu tests, diamond core drilling within the tunnels was also performed to obtain undisturbed rock samples for the examination of the existing tunnel conditions.

Landfills

In 2018 and 2019, as per the request of the European Union Office in Kosovo, we conducted borehole investigations for the hazardous waste landfill in the village of Harilaq. The main challenge of this project was coordinating with the client, the Ministry of Environment, and the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) for clearing the land from mines in the locations where boreholes were planned. The location was successfully investigated in 2019.

Geokos A&A has also been involved with the New Kosovo Power Plant, planned by Contour Global. For this project, we conducted the geotechnical investigations for the ash and gypsum landfill in Kosovo A. The borehole investigations reached depths of up to 90m from the existing surface. Permeability tests, CPTu tests, and geomechanical laboratory tests were also executed.

Throughout the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, Geokos A&A has conducted geotechnical investigations for waste disposal sites upon the request of COWI AS/DK and GITEC-IGIP GmbH in:

  • Prishtine
  • Peje
  • Istog
  • Prizren
  • Lipjan
  • Podujeve

Shopping Centers

Geokos A&A has conducted the geotechnical investigations for the largest shopping center in the Southeast Balkans, 'Prishtina Mall.' The investigations for this shopping center have included drilling up to a depth of 50m, Cone Penetration Testing (CPTu), geotechnical laboratory testing, and the creation of a geotechnical model which served as a basis for the structural design.

Geokos A&A has also conducted geotechnical investigations for the construction of 'Royal Mall' on B Street in Prishtina. Among the main challenges of this project was the identification of artificial fill, which is not suitable as a building foundation. Boreholes were carried out until suitable bearing layers for this structure were found.

Gas Pipelines

Between 2016 and 2018, Geokos A&A was responsible for Cone Penetration Testing (CPTu) in the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project in Albania. Modern geotechnical testing, CPTu, was conducted at the pumping stations in Fier, at a depth of 50 meters below the ground surface.

In addition to deep testing with CPTu, we have tested the entire gas pipeline, starting at the border with Greece in Kapshtica and extending to the Adriatic Sea outlet in Fier (approximately 120 km in length).

During 2021, a geotechnical survey for the Fier-Vlore Gas Pipeline has also been conducted using CPTu equipment, where real-time data on soil lithology was obtained to expedite the design process.

Water Supply and Sewerage Systems

Among the main underground infrastructure projects that Geokos A&A has been involved in is the project "Water Supply and Sewerage Removal in Pristina," at the request of the client JV DORSCH International consultant.

In 2019, upon the request of the client Strabag AG, we conducted geotechnical investigations for the "Sewage Disposal in Southwestern Kosovo in Peja" and the "Water Supply Scheme in Ferizaj."

For these projects, geotechnical boreholes were conducted up to a depth of 20m, including Standard Penetration Tests (SPT), permeability tests, and soil identification tests.

Energy Sector
